B’ville boys indoor track wins Morse Kickoff Meet

SYRACUSE – On consecutive weekends the Baldwinsville indoor track and field teams would compete in two different meets at SRC Arena to gets its 2025-26 season underway.
The bigger event was last Saturday’s Jack Morse Kickoff Meet and the boys Bees were victorious, picking up 109 points to top a
17-team field with Cicero-North Syracuse closest to them with 92 points in second place.
Dominating the 300-meter dash, the Bees had Kayden Gilbert win in 38.62 seconds edging C-NS’s Angel Cucenas in that same time as George Bauer was third in 39.05 and Rex Kirkegaard fourth in 39.53. Kirkegaard also cleared 6 feet in the high jump, second only to Cazenovia’s Eliot Comeau (6’2″) as Gilbert was third with 5’10”.
Cam Davis was victorious in the weight throw with a top toss of 54 feet 5 1/2 inches as no one else broke the 49-foot mark, while Doug Clark cleared 12’6″ in the pole vault to win since he had fewer misses than Skaneateles’ Ryan McCrone. Bryce Muthumbi threw the shot put 38’9 1/2″ to finish third.
B’ville also dominated the 4×800 relay as Logan Bolton, Ethan Millard, Liam McComber and Dom Dottolo won in 8:49.41 with Liverpool (9:40.38) nearly a full minute behind them.
In the 3,200-meter run McComber got to second place in 10:06.56, with Dottolo in fourth place and Ben Forman sixth. Gasper Rosario added a fourth in the 1,000-meter run in 2:50.81, with Bolton fifth and Peyton Brutcher sixth in the 600-meter run as Kian Pridmore went 39’2 3/4″ for fourth place in the triple jump.
Over in the girls edition of the Morse meet B’ville finished in third place with 60.75 points trailing only C-NS and Liverpool.
Camryn Barton got B’ville going with her victory in the opening race on the card as she went 10:47.09 to win at 3,000 meters with teammate Yolanda Wei in fifth place at 11:12.52. Barton also finished fourth in the 300-meter dash in 43.75 just ahead of Peyton Dyl’s fifth-place 44.30.
Emmy Buchanan got her own title in the 600-meter run, her 1:41.03 more than a second clear of the field, and joined Wei, Ella DeFio and Madelyn Donhauser to win the 4×800 relay posting in 10:27.13 nearly half a minute ahead of any rival.
Lilah Dias finished fifth in the 55-meter dash, with Donhauser sixth in the 1,000-meter run. The Bees were also fourth in the 4×200 relay going 1:57.66 and Claudia Amato had a sixth-place weight throw of 29’1 1/4″.
Less than a week earlier B’ville’s boys team was in the Westhill Invitational where Dyl was victorious in the girls 55-meter dash, her time of 7.40 seconds beating out the 7.46 from Nottingham’s Libya Dawson, and helped the Bees to fourth in the 4×400 in a time of 4:37.10.
Gilbert won, too, his 22’6 1/4” in the long jump more than a foot clear of the field as Cooper Christman was seventh going 18’5’ 1/4”.
Buchanan took second in the girls 600 in 1:43.20, with Amanda Newcomb fifth in the long jump (14’11 1/4”) and sixth in the triple jump (30’9 3/4”) as Mya Bregande cleared4’10” for sixth place in the high jump.
In the boys high jump Kirkegaard was third and Gilbert fourth, each topping 5’10”. Andrew Fry added a fifth in the boys pole vault clearing 9 feet.
Bauer got fourth (1:33.04) and Brutcher sixth (1:34.40) in the 600 to go with an eighth in the 1,000. Bauer was part of B’ville’s fourth-place team in the 4×200 in 1:38.70.
