Philip Rivers tears up while sharing motivation for returning to the Colts SEATTLE (WISH) — Philip Rivers returned to the Colts and played his first NFL game since January 2021 on Sunday, as the Colts lost to the Seahawks, 18 -16. Rivers shared his motivation for why he returned and got emotional, tearing up. “Obviously, this doesn’t come up every day, but I think maybe it will inspire or teach not to run or be scared of what may or may not happen,” Rivers said. “Certainly I think of my sons and those ballplayers that I’m in charge of at the school, that they’ll say, ‘Crap, coach wasn’t scared.’ It’s like, shoot, there is doubt, and it’s real. Again, the guaranteed safe bet is to not go for it and the other one is, shoot, let’s see what happens.
