BEREA, OH (WOWO) The Ohio Turnpike’s toll rates will increase by 2.7% starting January 1, 2026. E-ZPass customers with passenger vehicles (Class 1) will see the per-mile rate rise from 7.1 cents to 7.3 cents, while cash and credit card tolls will increase from 10.4 cents to 10.6 cents per mile. Fo r commercial vehicles (Class 5), E-ZPass rates will go from 22 cents to 22.6 cents per mile, and cash or credit card rates will increase from 27.6 cents to 28.4 cents per mile. Full trip westbound fares across the 241-mile Turnpike will range from $19 for E-ZPass passenger vehicles to $74 for commercial vehicles using cash or credit. Eastbound fares will range from $16 for E-ZPass cars to $62.75 for commercial vehicles paying cash or credit. A flat-rate roundtrip toll applies at Eastgate Toll Plaza for westbound travel; eastbound drivers do not pay a toll at that location. E-ZPass users continue to save an average of 33% compared with cash or credit payments. The toll increase, approved by the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission, is designed to maintain a stable financial plan to cover operating expenses, debt service, and capital improvements. Funding for the Turnpike comes almost entirely from toll revenue, with no tax dollars used. The Commission held public hearings in early 2023 to discuss the adjustment, and the Schedule of Tolls for 2024-2028 was approved in April 2023. Ohio drivers can plan for the increase and consider E-ZPass options to continue saving on tolls while supporting the maintenance and improvement of the Turnpike’s roadway and bridge infrastructure.
