Broncos QB Bo Nix shines with four passing touchdowns in win over Packers
Dec 14, 2025
Bo Nix entered his “flow state” against the Packers.
It culminated in a massive Broncos home victory, 34-26, on Sunday to clinch a playoff berth and extend their winning streak to 11 games. Nix delivered arguably the best performance of his young NFL career. The second-year starting quarterba
ck threw for 302 yards with four touchdowns, zero interceptions and a sparkling 134.7 QB rating. He never got sacked.
The Broncos still trailed by 9 points early in the third quarter. Nix rallied Denver (12-2) to yet another comeback win, and this time, against elite NFC competition. His presence in the huddle inspired teammates.
“When he gets into his — I don’t know you want to call it — flow state? … He’s competitive as hell,” tight end Adam Trautman said in the postgame locker room at Empower Field. “He’s fiery and he’s in there like: ‘Lock in.’ He’s speaking to you, and his eyes are wide, and he’s staring at your soul. It’s a confidence and respect thing. It spreads throughout the entire huddle.”
Nix made several clutch plays in key moments:
— A 20-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter to wide receiver Michael Bandy. Nix escaped the Green Bay pass rush, scrambled left, and threw a well-placed dart on the run.
— A 5-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter to wide receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey. Nix threaded the needle, between defenders, with a low pass that only Humphrey could grab.
— A 14-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter to wide receiver Courtland Sutton. Nix tossed an over-the-shoulder beauty that Sutton caught in stride over a defender.
— A 23-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter to wide receiver Troy Franklin. Nix climbed the pocket and layered his line-drive throw between two levels of the Green Bay defense.
— A fourth-and-short conversion in the fourth quarter. Nix threw a deep fade to Sutton for 26 yards. It extended the drive and running back RJ Harvey iced the game with a rushing touchdown.
“The skill guys, they balled today, and the O-line played as good as they’ve played since I’ve been here. They kept me completely clean,” Nix said. “They battled their butt off. They played with great tempo. They knocked them around as best they could, and I thought our guys responded because of it. We were able to get open (and) find some completions. … Just having four different guys score big touchdowns like that is huge. Being able to score points and not kick field goals in a game like that is usually the difference maker.”
Broncos teammates gushed over his performance.
“No. 10 is a freak of nature, man. I’ve been telling you guys this for the last two years,” left tackle Garret Bolles said. “I don’t know if he goes in at halftime or before the game and gets hooked up to an IV and puts some green juice in him. He turns into a Hulk. I don’t know what he does. But it’s awesome, man. He’s just so composed and calm and just a special person.”
Trautman added: “(Nix) has every single trait imaginable. Super smart. Super mobile, which is a huge part of his game that a lot of people I don’t think really understand. You saw it all kind of come to fruition today. … He’s been playing really, really well as of late.”
Nix has been especially dominant over the last four games. He completed 69% (107 of 154) for 1,130 yards over that span with five touchdowns and one interception. Coach Sean Payton compared his development to running a half-marathon race. Payton said Nix is only at the fourth-mile marker and “taking the Gatorade” on the course of a long NFL career.
“The thing about (Nix) is he loves playing, and so it’s contagious, and that’s a really good trait for a player in his position and his teammates feel that,” Payton said. “So, adapting and learning. Remember, for 15 years (with former Saints QB Drew Brees) … and they couldn’t be more different just from a personality standpoint. Then, I’ve had the good fortune of coaching others. It’s learning (Nix), and him smiling even when we’re down. I mean, there’s just a competitive nature about him that’s refreshing.”
The Broncos welcome another quality opponent to Empower Field in Week 16 against the Jaguars (10-4). Expect more of the same intensity from Nix as he keeps growing into his role as a franchise quarterback. He’s now leading the Broncos into back-to-back postseason appearances.
“I appreciate (Payton) for letting me be my authentic self,” Nix said. “I appreciate him for letting me be competitive, and he hasn’t taken that fire away from me. Together, we are just working really well off each other. He trusts me, and I can tell by the way he is calling it. My job is to turn around and protect him and keep his call safe. … I appreciate the opportunity that he’s given me, and I think together we have something going right now.”
