RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) – All eyes on a light snow chance on Sunday morning, followed by an Arctic Airmass sweeping into the Commonwealth during the day on Sunday and lasting through our Monday. Tonight’s forecast for this Saturday night into Sunday morning calls for mostly cloudy skies overnight, with very chilly temperatures, dipping down into the middle 30s by Midnight and light snow breaking out between 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. and lasting through the daybreak hours. Tomorrow’s forecast for our Sunday, calls for mostly cloudy skies to start the day, leading to decreasing clouds the rest of the day, with steady to dropping temperatures all day long as an Arctic Airmass, on the back end of an Arctic Cold Front sweeps through the Commonwealth, and light snow ends around 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a windy Sunday afternoon, with gusts as high as 30 to 35 mph from time to time. It’s a good recommendation that on Sunday you stay inside, to stay warm and stay safe. Here's the snowfall forecast for Sunday morning, areas to the south and west of Metro Richmond will see possible flurries, while areas to the north and east of Metro Richmond could see a dusting to maybe 1 inch of fresh, light snowfall. Tomorrow night into Monday morning, will bring us mostly clear skies, and very cold temperatures, dropping down to 15 to 20 degrees by Monday morning, with even colder wind chill values, down to around 10 to 15 degrees, if not colder. Monday will be a very chilly day, under mostly sunny skies and highs around 35 degrees. It’s a good recommendation that on Monday you stay inside, to stay warm and stay safe. Tuesday will be a chilly day, under mostly sunny skies and highs in the lower 40s. Then the overall weather pattern flips, and we will see much more seasonable temperatures, if not above average temperatures on Wednesday, Thursday, and on Friday of next work week. There is an afternoon and evening chance for rain showers next Thursday. Next Saturday may be a touch cool, with highs 45 to 50 degrees under partly sunny skies. Finally, next Sunday, which is the first official day of Winter, the Winter Solstice, calls for some isolated rain showers possible and mild temperatures, rising to around 60 degrees. ...read more read less
