The Jordan-Elbridge High School Veritas Chapter of the National Honor Society held its annual induction ceremony recently, welcoming 15 new members recognized for their outstanding scholarship, leadership, service and character. The 2025 inductees are: Shannon Ahern III, Maxwell Adams, Brody Boyl an, Chase Brunelle, Abby DelFavero, Kathleen Ferrare, Sophia Guzman, Madison Maurer, Stella Opanhoske, Xavier Robinson, Gabrielle Rodriguez, Rylan Streeter, Genevieve Walrath, Calvin Whiting and Alyssa Woytowich. The ceremony began with a moving rendition of the National Anthem performed by NHS member Abigayle Bates, followed by welcoming remarks from Ms. Emily Rumpf, Principal Mark Schermerhorn and Superintendent James Froio. The evening’s keynote address was delivered by Elbridge Elementary Principal Brooke Bastian, who has been with the district for 13 years. Bastian spoke about the four pillars of the National Honor Society — Scholarship, Service, Leadership and Character — and connected them to this year’s district theme, “All Means All.” The traditional candle lighting ceremony followed, led by current NHS officers: President William Haumann (Leadership), Vice President John Peters (Service), Secretary Lauren Richardson (Scholarship) and Treasurer Sally Lin (Character). Each new inductee was then called to the stage to receive their official membership certificate, symbolizing their commitment to uphold the high standards of the National Honor Society. To conclude the ceremony, President Haumann led all members in reciting the NHS Pledge. Principal Schermerhorn commended the students for their achievements and character, noting that the evening reflected the best of what Jordan-Elbridge students strive to be. “These students represent the heart of what it means to be an Eagle — hardworking, compassionate and committed to making a difference,” he said. “We are incredibly proud of their accomplishments and look forward to seeing the impact they will continue to make both in and out of the classroom.” ...read more read less
