Dec 12, 2025
Fort Wayne, Ind. (WOWO) — The Fort Wayne Street Department will resume leaf collection on Tuesday, December 16, beginning in central neighborhoods to finish the first round of pickup. Crews expect to start the second round on December 22 in the city’s south neighborhoods, with plans to continue
in the north and central areas in early January. All dates remain weather dependent.
Daily updates on collection progress will be posted before 3 p.m. at the city’s leaf collection webpage, which also includes a service map and detailed guidelines. Residents can also hear recorded updates by calling 260-427-2603.
Updated Leaf Collection Schedule
• Central Neighborhoods, Round 1: Dec. 16–19
• South Neighborhoods, Round 2: Dec. 22–Jan. 2
• North Neighborhoods, Round 2: Jan. 5–9
• Central Neighborhoods, Round 2: Jan. 12–16
The Street Department reminds residents to place leaves on the park strip by 7 a.m. on the first scheduled day of collection in their area. Leaves should not be placed in trash or recycling carts, burned, pushed into the street, or piled near storm drains. Parents are also encouraged to keep children from playing in leaf piles near the roadway for safety.
Residents who prefer on-demand pickup can use the city’s biodegradable bag program. Bagged leaves should be placed at the curb before calling 311 to schedule collection. The bagged-leaf service will operate through the end of 2025, weather permitting, with two additional collection weeks planned for March 2026.
