      BATESBURG-LEESVILLE, S.C. (WOLO)– Police in Batesburg-Leesville say an officer was involved in a shooting Wednesday, Dec. 10. According to investigators, at 12 p.m. officers pulled a car over that was believed to have been involved in criminal activity at multiple businesses. Police sa y two suspects were in the car. During the stop, police say the suspect tried to drive away and hit one of the officers. A second officer fired shots at the suspects. Two suspects in the car were taken to the hospital. The officer who was hit by the car was treated at the scene. Officers say 31-year-old Ronnie Mizell was arrested in relation to the traffic stop, and shooting that happened on Wednesday in the 100 block of West Church Street. Mizell was treated at a hospital and then released before being taken to the Lexington County Detention Center. He is charged with assault and battery (2nd degree), failure to stop for blue lights, and obstruction of justice. SLED continues to investigate the incident.
