A 24-year-old stabbing victim died after he made his way to a gas station about a block from where Chula Vista police say he had been attacked Tuesday night. Police responded to an AM/PM on Palomar Street near the on-ramp to northbound Interstate 5 just before 10 p.m., officials said in a news relea se. Officers attempted life-saving measures, and he was taken to a hospital, where he died. His name was not released, pending his family’s notification of his death. The investigation led police to suspect the attack happened on nearby Trenton Avenue. Police arrested a suspect, who they identified as Gunnar Martin, 21. Police did not say what led them to the location or the suspect, nor did they indicate what may have preceded the fatal stabbing. Online jail records show Martin was booked into custody on suspicion of murder, where he was being held without bail Thursday.
