Lori Sullivan Credit: Courtesy Lori Marie Bullock Sullivan, 63, beloved mother, sister and friend, passed away on November 29, 2025, in Tampa, Fla., surrounded by her family. Born on April 18, 1962, in Rutland, Vt., Lori’s life was dedicated to the care and education of children — not onl y her two daughters and son, but also the countless children she helped in her practice as a pediatric occupational therapist and volunteer. Lori graduated from Assumption College and the Sargent College of Medicine at Boston University. Early in her career, she provided her services to children with learning disabilities at the Cove School in Winnetka, Ill. When she moved back to Vermont in 1989, Lori opened Sullivan Associates, which served the needs of pediatric patients in northern Vermont. As time passed, Lori discovered a love of horses, which she incorporated into her practice of hippotherapy, under the name of Hearts, Hands and Horses. She helped many children with autism spectrum disorder and other neurological conditions. After moving to Florida, Lori continued to work with special needs children, including those who were deaf. Lori was an active member of the Baha’i faith communities in Vermont and Clearwater, Fla. With the latter group, she participated in a choir that was invited to perform recently at the Baha’i House of Worship for North America in Wilmette, Ill. Lori’s children were always her first love and priority. From choosing a Montessori preschool education, through primary and high school, Lori was deeply involved in making decisions and supporting them that would give them opportunities in a way she never had. That included travel to diverse places and inviting artists and musicians to teach and perform at the house she helped to design on Appletree Point in Burlington. Lori is survived by her three children, Rachel, Louis and Madeleine, and their spouses, Daniel and Ayla; her sisters, Kelly and Stacia; brother, JR; as well as a large extended family in the Rutland, Vt., area. A memorial service to celebrate Lori’s life will be held in Burlington, Vt., after the holiday season, to allow as many as possible the opportunity to join the family in honoring her beloved memory.
