Parent accused in deadly KSU shooting enters plea, bond set

FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The man accused of shooting and killing a Kentucky State University student — and critically injuring another — is schedul
ed to appear in court Thursday morning.
According to court records, 48-year-old Jacob Lee Bard of Evansville, Indiana, is set for arraignment at 10 a.m. in Franklin District Court. Bard faces charges of murder and first-degree assault.
KSU officials say Bard is the parent of a KSU student.
As previously reported, police say Bard allegedly pulled out a gun and opened fire during a group fight outside a campus dorm Tuesday afternoon. One of the shots killed 19-year-old KSU student De’Jon Darrell Fox Jr. of Indianapolis. Another student was also shot and remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Video recorded by students capturing parts of the incident has been circulating on social media.
Investigators say the motive for the shooting is still under review as the case continues to unfold.
