Black Hills National Forest will temporarily close National Forest System Road 366.3, Beretta Road on the Mystic Ranger District, from Dec. 11, 2025, to May 1, 2026, for safety. This road is located approximately 3 miles north-northeast of Keystone, SD, and is a popular target shooting and recreatio n area. The closure is to protect USDA Forest Service employees and contractors from recreational shooting activities while conducting logging operations and stewardship work. The public is encouraged to use alternative areas for recreational shooting during this closure to include the new South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Pete Lien and Sons Shooting complex located north of Rapid City, SD. The closure order prohibits motor vehicle use on the roads except for: Federal or State administrative personnel in the performance of an official duty Individuals with special use authorization from the Forest Service specifically exempting them from the order Any federal, state or local law enforcement officer, or any member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty A map of the area and the closure order are posted online at: https://www.fs.usda.gov/r02/blackhills/alerts.
