(KRON) -- A Sebastopol man who was convicted of DUI four times within the past decade was sentenced to prison Tuesday following his most recent drunk driving incident. Rafael Onofre-Remigio, 31, was sentenced by Sonoma County Superior Court Judge Kenneth Gnoss to serve three years in state prison, prosecutors said. Just after midnight on August 26, California Highway Patrol officers pulled Onofre-Remigio over for speeding nearly 100 mph on Highway 101. At the time, he was on Post-Release Community Supervision for his last DUI conviction, and he was required to have an ignition interlock device installed on any vehicle he drove. CHP officers determined that Onofre-Remigio was drunk during the traffic stop, and his car did not have the ignition interlock device, the District Attorney's Office said. "A breath test determined that he had been driving with a 0.14% blood alcohol level," the DA's office wrote. District Attorney Carla Rodriguez said, "I agree completely with the court’s decision to impose the maximum sentence allowed under the law. The defendant has demonstrated, repeatedly through his actions, that he remains a threat to the community." ...read more read less
