The family of a 72-year-old Brentwood woman who died after a confrontation with police is pushing for officers to be charged with a crime. Yolanda Ramirez died in October after witnesses say she was forcefully taken into custody by Brentwood police. She died from a severe brain bleed a week later . Photos showed bruises on her wrists that her family said were from handcuffs. While Ramirez’s cause of death is still listed as pending by Contra Costa County, the family’s attorney, Melissa Nold, said an independent autopsy revealed some troubling preliminary findings. “Shockingly we discovered that she had blunt force injuries to her face and head and she had a fracture on her skull,” Nold said. Nold wrote to the district attorney Tuesday, informing her about the injuries and calling for charges. “You need to prosecute these officers,” Nold said. “This was not an accident. She did not slip and fall. They slammed her head.
