The tri-state’s next weather maker is set for Wednesday this week. And, like the last one, it’s set to bring mainly rain to the coast and snow to the mountains. Despite the very cold temperatures we’ve endured in recent weeks, temperatures in the city and surrounding areas will moderate jus t enough ahead of Wednesday’s storm, keeping those locations wet instead of white. Sullivan and Ulster counties in New York, and Pike County in Pennsylvania, will once again have the best chance to see accumulating snow. But don’t expect the 5-8 inches of snow that was seen last week. This storm won’t pack the same punch, so 1-3 inches is more likely. In the Lower Hudson Valley and Northern Jersey, expect a mix of rain and snow, which will keep snow accumulation to a minimum. The snow will begin early Wednesday morning far inland. The precipitation will work its way to the coast by late morning and continue for much of the afternoon and early evening.  Plan for a wet drive home from work in and around the city.
