Bay Area earthquake swarm centered near San Ramon

Multiple small earthquakes struck Monday morning, centered near San Ramon, according to the United States Geological Survey.
There have been dozens of small earthquakes reported in the San Ramon area throughout the day, according to the USGS. Here’s a breakdown of some of the stronger reported
earthquake activity:
1:59 p.m. – Preliminary 2.6 magnitude earthquake
1:50 p.m. – Preliminary 2.9 magnitude earthquake
10:06 a.m. – Preliminary 2.9 magnitude earthquake
9:07 a.m. – Preliminary 3.7 magnitude earthquake
9:05 a.m. – Preliminary 2.6 magnitude earthquake
5:37 a.m. – Preliminary 2.7 magnitude earthquake
5:21 a.m. – Preliminary 3.0 magnitude earthquake
5:21 a.m. – Preliminary 2.4 magnitude earthquake
2:33 a.m. – Preliminary 2.9 magnitude earthquake
The San Ramon area has been the center of other recent earthquake activity:
On Nov. 20, a 3.2 magnitude earthquake was reported in San Ramon
On Nov. 17, a 3.3 magnitude temblor struck the area.
On Nov. 9, a series of small earthquakes rattled the San Ramon area.
The USGS said swarms of small earthquakes are pretty common for the San Ramon area.
“We think this is pretty typical common behavior for this area,” said Annemarie Baltay, a USGS seismologist. “It’s nothing really to be alarmed about. It can be very disturbing if you’re feeling these earthquakes. And these swarms can go on for a few days, so we may have more shaking.”
