RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) – All eyes now on the second winter storm of the season set to bring accumulating snowfall to all Central Virginia tomorrow on our Monday. The cutoff location is approximately around Interstate 64, with our second winter storm. Lower snowfall totals for areas north and northea st, while areas to the south and southwest of Interstate 64, will see higher snowfall totals tomorrow. The City of Richmond could get around 2 inches of snowfall totals, potentially 3 to 4 inches is possible for the River City. Tonight’s forecast for this Sunday night into Monday morning, calls for mostly cloudy skies and cold temperatures, dropping down to around 30 degrees, in Metro Richmond, while locations outside of the Metro could get down into the 20s. Monday is a VIPIR Alert Day for our second winter storm of the season, as we will see snow break out around 7am Monday morning, and continue light to moderate in intensity all day long tomorrow, and wrap up around 7pm Monday evening, and temperatures will be cold enough to support snowfall, only rising to 30 to 35 degrees. Monday night into Tuesday morning will be a very cold night, after the second winter storm of the season wraps up Monday evening, with temperatures falling back to around 20 degrees by Tuesday morning, which means locations outside of Metro Richmond will fall back down into the teens. Tuesday will be a very chilly day, under partly sunny skies and highs around 35 degrees. Wednesday will be a cool day, under partly sunny skies and highs 45 to 50 degrees and breezy conditions from time to time. Thursday will be a mostly cloudy day, with cool temperatures rising to around 40 to 45 degrees. Friday we may see some snow flurries possible, under partly sunny skies.
