(KRON) — San Francisco Police Department officers helped evacuate people from a burning building on Monterey Boulevard after an unknown person set the building on fire on October 25, a video released by SFPD shows. Police were responding to a burglary call at the apartment at 9:50 p.m. when the f ire was set. SFPD’s video of the response includes a recording of a woman telling a 911 operator that she could not escape the burning building. “I can’t leave!” the woman told 911. The San Francisco Fire Department arrived several minutes later and extinguished the flames. “Quick-thinking officers rescued a pair of residents unable to escape from a burning building,” SFPD said. “These officers placed themselves at risk to save lives, demonstrating bravery and commitment to protecting others.” The arson suspect was not found.
