Man killed, another injured in West Philly double shooting, police say

One man was killed and another was sent to the hospital in a double shooting that happened in West Philadelphia on Saturday night, police said.
In a Sunday update, police said officers located the victims of the double shooting after a report of a person with a gun that happened along the 5400 bl
ock of Locust Street in West Philly at about 8:07 p.m. on Saturday.
When first responders arrived at the scene, officials said, the found a 39-year-old man who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds as well as a 35-year-old man who has been shot in his lower extremities.
Both men were taken to a nearby hospital where, officials said, the 39-year-old man was pronounced at about 8:33 p.m.
The other victim, police said, has been hospitalized in stable condition.
Police said that no information was immediately available on a motive or any potential suspects in this incident and no arrests have been made.
But, an investigation, officials said, is underway.
As of Saturday, Dec, 6, 2025, there were 205 reported homicides in Philadelphia so far this year, down more than 15% from the same time last year which ultimately saw the lowest number of homicides in a decade, according to police data.
