FRANKFORT, Ind. (WISH) — An Indianapolis man has been arrested and charged for his role in a Clinton County police shooting, according to Indiana State Police (ISP). On Nov. 18, around 8:45 p.m., a deputy with the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on State Road 29, just south of County Road 400 North. The Kirklin Town Marshal’s Office assisted the deputy during the stop. During the course of the traffic stop, all adult occupants were outside of the vehicle when a passenger fired a handgun toward the officers, striking two Kirklin town marshals. Officers at the scene returned fire with their handguns and struck the suspect at least once. The suspect fled on foot into a nearby field, where he was found and taken into custody. Medical aid was immediately provided, and a handgun was recovered at the scene. The suspect and one of the town marshals were transported to an Indianapolis-area hospital. The town marshal is in stable condition. The second town marshal was struck by gunfire, but their bullet-resistant vest prevented injury. There were four adult occupants and a child involved in the vehicle. In addition to the suspect, one adult was struck by gunfire and transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Two other adult occupants and the child were uninjured. An arrest warrant was issued out of Clinton County, and on Thursday, the suspect was released from an Indianapolis-area hospital. He was immediately taken into custody by ISP on the active warrant without incident and transported to the Clinton County Jail. Jehrome Bowens, 29, of Indianapolis, has been preliminarily charged with three counts of attempted murder, three counts of battery by means of a deadly weapon, theft, and unlawful carrying of a handgun. ...read more read less
