(KRON) -- Firefighters in Benicia stepped into action Thursday morning after a goose became snaggled in fishing line and could no longer fly. The Benicia Fire Department crew was dispatched to the First Street Pier and spotted the Canada goose floating 30 feet offshore in the Carquinez Strait. A fi refighter geared up with a rescue paddleboard and set out to collect the helpless bird. After being brought back to shore, the fishing line was carefully cut. At that point, “the goose was too exhausted to move, let alone fly,” Benicia FD said.
