Mountain Snow, with a Cold Rain in the Metro

If you’re heading toward the mountains, grab the heavier coat and maybe even the snow boots. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect, for the High Country and some spots closer to the Virginia border could pick up around 1-2″ of snow. It’s not a major winter storm, but it’s enough t
o coat the ground, and make the roads slick.
In Charlotte, it’s a completely different story. No snowflakes just a plain, cold, steady rain. The worst of it looks to hit Friday morning, so if you’re commuting early, plan on a slow, soggy start.
The good news is conditions start to ease up after the morning, with the heaviest rain tapering off. The not-so-good news is the clouds are not going anywhere.
With all that cloud cover hanging around, temperatures will struggle all day. Most of us will be stuck in the upper 30s, and it might feel colder thanks to the dampness.
Things will transition to the better side going into the weekend with temperatures jumping up a few degrees, but the clouds stick around for a good chunk of the weekend.
