Salem man dies after being hit near intersection on SE Commercial Saturday

A Salem man died from his injuries after being hit by a vehicle in south Salem on Saturday night, according to the Salem Police Department.
The man, Ethan Alekseyenko, 21, was crossing the street with another man near the intersection of Southeast Commercial Street and Southeast Ewald Avenue when
a vehicle traveling south on Commercial hit him at 10:04 p.m., a Thursday police statement said.
It is not clear whether the men were crossing at a crosswalk.
Responders transported Alekseyenko to Salem Hospital where he later died from his injuries, according to Salem police. Police did not say what time the man died.
No citations or arrests have been made related to the crash so far, and the Salem Police Traffic Team is investigating.
This is the Salem area’s 20th fatal crash of 2025, according to Salem Reporter’s coverage.
