Dec. 4 | Evening Forecast with Chief Meteorologist Keith Gibson INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — We’re in for the coldest night this week tonight before temps attempt to make a run back to the 30s into this weekend. We are also tracking more snow chances Sunday and next week. Thursday night: Cold est night of the week ahead with potential for record lows across a good chunk of the state. Indy’s record low for tonight is 8 degrees from 1886. The low looks to occur before sunrise Friday. Friday: We’ll try to rebound into the 30s across at least part of the state Friday. There will be a mix of sun and clouds with light winds as well. Saturday: Still cold and a bit below normal into the first weekend of December. Highs will top out in the low to mid 30s Saturday. Thankfully, we are tracking dry conditions as we’ll have a busy day upon us in Indy with big sporting events happening. We have IU vs. Louisville men’s basketball taking place at 2 PM in Gainbridge Fieldhouse, and this will be followed by the Big Ten championship in college football between IU and Ohio state. Kickoff will be at 8 PM in Lucas Oil Stadium. Be sure to bundle up if you’re heading out to these events Saturday. 7-Day Forecast: By Sunday, we’re tracking the potential for more snow accumulation. Details are still unclear to an extent with system track and totals. Nonetheless, there is potential that we could receive up to a couple of inches of snow Sunday. Depending on the track, some areas may even work in more of a wintry mix/rain. Overall, a more northern track means more mixed precipitation for central Indiana while a more southern track favors more of an all-snow mode. More in the way of snow (possible wintry mix even?) chances look to slide in closer to next Tuesday/Wednesday. ...read more read less
