Twenty-seven years to the day after Suzanne Jovin was stabbed to death, a former detective who worked the case pleaded with the public to come forward with any information about her death. That detective — Ed Kenda ll, who is now retired — read a statement on the corner of East Rock and Edgehill roads on Thursday, where the 21-year-old Yale student’s body was found. According to former reporter Randall Beach, Jack Edwards and Marcy Pillsbury — two investigators who worked on the case — also attended the event. Jovin’s body was found on Dec. 4, 1998. She had been stabbed 17 times, and no suspect was ever charged in her case. According to New Haven Police Department spokesperson Officer Christian Bruckhart, her case has been moved to the Connecticut Cold Case Unit in Rocky Hill. “It is not forgotten that Suzanne Jovin was stabbed 27 years ago,” said Kendall. “The loss of Suzanne, who was a loving daughter, sister, friend, and classmate, was devastating.” Kendall said that they are seeking “further investigation and justice” for Jovin and that, even though he is now retired, he and other cops are still working to solve her case. “That year, in 1998, there were 15 murders in New Haven,” said Kendall. “All murders were solved and cases closed except this, in the murder of Suzanne Jovin.” He then asked the audience to take a moment of silence.
