Eagles star defensive tackle Jalen Carter is week-to-week after having a procedure on both of his shoulders on Monday, a league source confirmed to NBC Sports Philadelphia. Carter, 24, will not play against the Chargers this coming Monday night in Los Angeles as he rehabbed his shoulders. But thi s is not expected to be a season-ending injury and Carter could return in the next few weeks. The Eagles have five regular season games left on their schedule. Carter was clearly bothered by his injuries in the Eagles’ 24-15 loss to the Bears on Black Friday. He wasn’t playing at his usual level and played just 70% of the team’s defensive snaps. Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio on Wednesday confirmed that Carter has been dealing with injury. “He does have a shoulder issue,” Fangio said. “He has been playing with it. Late in the game, he had a great play with it, but it’s definitely something there.” Carter this season has logged 581 defensive snaps after missing the Eagles’ season opener against the Cowboys when he was ejected before the first defensive play. He also missed the first Giants game with a heel injury. In 10 games this season, Carter has 2 sacks, 11 QB hits, 6 pass breakups and 4 tackles for loss. Without Carter, the Eagles will turn to Jordan Davis, Moro Ojomo and Byron Young, who have been the other three defensive tackles in the rotation. They might also begin to play rookie fourth-round pick Ty Robinson, who has logged just 35 snaps all season. They also have Gabe Hall on their practice squad; Hall has played in two games this season, totaling 13 snaps. The Eagles drafted Carter in the first round out of Georgia in 2023 and he was named to his first Pro Bowl team in his second NFL season. Carter will be eligible for a contract extension after the conclusion of this regular season. ...read more read less
