HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A stretch of Hanover County roadway will be closed for months as crews work on a bridge replacement project. Starting on Monday, April 21, Elmont Road between Ashcake and Gwathmey Church roads will be closed as crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT ) work to replace the bridge over Stony Run Creek. Detours will be available. They are as follows: Northbound traffic: From Elmont Road, turn right onto Ashcake Road. Then turn right onto Center Street Road, followed by a right onto Gwathmey Church Road. Finally, turn right onto Elmont Road. Southbound traffic: From Elmont Road, turn left onto Gwathmey Church Road. Then turn left onto Center Street Road, followed by a left onto Ashcake Road. Finally, turn left onto Elmont Road. Work should be completed by late August.
