ASHAWAY, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Transportation announced an emergency closure of the bridge on Laurel Street on Tuesday. According to a spokesperson for RIDOT, “there was an issue with the strands that provide the tension with the bridge.” The Hopkinton Police Departmen t said it is uncertain when the bridge will reopen.
