Downtown business celebrates grand reopening after fire

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A business that has been displaced for more than a year after a fire in December 2023 is holding a grand reopening on Thursday, April 17.
Yobel and The Look Up Gallery were among the businesses impacted by the fire at the Majestic Building on Bijou Street in 2023. On Thursd
ay, they will be reopening at a new location at 517 South Cascade Avenue--the entrance is off the alley behind Coati.

“It’s been a long and stressful 16 months since the fire, and in 2024, we worked on 23 spaces, hoping to reopen as soon as possible. The twenty-third time’s the charm because that’s when we found the space in the Trolley Block! This new location allows us to bring to life everything we’ve ever dreamed of, all in one creative space,” said Emily Ross, co-owner of Yobel and The Look Up Gallery.

Yobel will reopen in a larger space with an expansion of their retail business and gallery, and six artist studios for rent. There are plans to hold art classes, experiential retail events, and to have a bar in the space. Yobel and The Look Up Gallery plan to have at least 25 artists represented at all times.
Yobel has also expanded its inventory of fair trade and sustainable clothing, bags, and jewelry. The Look Up Gallery will continue to participate in First Fridays, and later in the year, monthly featured artists will return. ...read more read less
