City of Goose Creek remembers employee killed in weekend hitandrun

GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCBD) – A City of Goose Creek employee and local musician passed away this weekend after being struck in a hit-and-run collision.
46-year-old Kelly Farmer of Ladson died after being struck by an unknown vehicle on Dorchester Road while walking near Tabby Lane.
The South Ca
rolina Highway Patrol is investigating the collision. State troopers said they still have not identified the suspected driver.
Farmer worked as a water distribution operation for the city’s Department of Public Works, according to a social media post by the city.

He started two years ago and initially worked in the maintenance department before moving to the water division.
“He never walked away from a challenge or the chance to learn something new,” DPW Director Chuck Denson said. “He was extraordinary and a sponge for knowledge. We are going to miss him deeply.”
Comments poured in on the Goose Creek post of people expressing their sorrow at the loss of Farmer.
Farmer was not only a beloved city employee but also a musician who played bass in the local band Bullets Benign.
The band also posted a tribute to Farmer, writing, “Thank you for the love, music, and brotherhood. We will always love you, and you are forever in our hearts. Love you, buddy.” ...read more read less
