Protestors sound off in support of Maryland man's return after Trump, Bukele meeting

WASHINGTON (DC News Now)-- Demonstrators took to the White House Tuesday morning to protest after El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele told President Donald Trump he has no plans to send Kilmar Abrego Garcia back to the U.S. after he was wrongly deported in March.
"The fascist trump regime mus
t go," said Lucha Bright to DC News Now.
Bright is one of the organizers with the Refuse Fascism coalition, which sent out a call to action Monday, following Bukele’s meeting with Trump.
Abrego Garcia was sent to El Salvador’s notorious Cecot prison along with scores of others under suspicion of gang affiliation, which the Trump administration said was done by mistake.

The Maryland man was accused by the Trump administration of being an MS-13 gang member, which his attorney vehemently denies. Abrego Garcia’s attorney also argued that the government had not shown any evidence to support the accusation.
The Trump administration has repeatedly ignored orders to bring Abrego Garcia back to the U.S, even after the Supreme Court said the administration should facilitate his return.
"They've admitted that they deported him in an error in an administrative court, and he actually had an order to not deport that was in place, and they deported him anyway," said Bright.
Federal District Judge Paula Xinis has been presiding over Abrego Garcia’s case and is now considering a request to compel the government to explain why it should not be held in contempt. She has called the administration’s failure to comply “extremely troubling.”

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi said the government would only facilitate Abrego Garcia’s return if El Salvador decided to send him back.
A hearing in this case is set for 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15.
