Police ask people to avoid area in central Topeka Tuesday after gunshots reported

TOPEKA (KSNT) - A large law enforcement presence is in central Topeka Tuesday afternoon following reports of gunshots in the area.
Dan Garrett with the City of Topeka told 27 News that at around 1 p.m. on April 15 officers with the Topeka Police Department (TPD) were in the area of the 2000 block
of Lane Street east of Washburn University when they witnessed shots being fired. People are asked to avoid the area at this time.
Charges filed against man accused of attacking Topeka Rescue Mission staff member
Garrett said no injuries have been reported in connection to this incident. More information will be added here as it becomes available.
