Two suspects arrested in connection with breaking into cars in Pittsfield

PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Two suspects were arrested in connection with breaking into vehicles in Pittsfield early Tuesday morning.
In a news release from the Pittsfield Police Department, at around 1:30 a.m., officers were called to the area of Robbins Ave for a report of someone inside a victi
m's vehicle. The vehicle owner was able to provide police with the suspect's clothing.
A short time later, officers were able to locate a man in the area matching the description. While officers questioned the suspect, they also searched a backpack and found several wallets belonging to other people, jewelry, keys, a cell phone, and other miscellaneous items consistent with someone engaged in breaking into motor vehicles.

The suspect claimed the backpack did not belong to him, that he had found it. However, an ID belonging to him was also located inside. In a nearby backyard, officers were alerted to movement, which led to a foot chase of a woman who was apprehended.
Both suspects were arrested and scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday. The officers were able to return several items to their owners.
