CHARLESTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — Hazmat crews are at the scene of a crash involving a fuel truck in Charlestown.
The rollover crash happened around 9:45 a.m. Tuesday in the area of Post Road and Narrow Lane.
Assistant Fire Chief Joe Weeden said the truck was carrying 1,800 gallons of fuel, and a c
ouple of hundred gallons leaked out.
Crews were able to contain the spill, then called in an empty truck to take the remaining fuel from the rolled-over truck.

The driver and passenger were able to get out on their own after the crash, according to Weeden. They were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
"This can be a very tricky corner," Weeden explained. "It's a very busy road coming off the highway, so people coming off the highway speed could be a factor, but I'm not sure what the cause of the accident is."
Once the truck is uprighted and towed away, Weeden said the Rhode Island Department Of Environmental Management will look at the area.
The crash remains under investigation.
