Governor Armstrong declares Earth Day in North Dakota

NORTH DAKOTA (KXNET) — April 22 has been proclaimed as Earth Day in North Dakota by Governor Kelly Armstrong.
The day provides a chance for all residents to raise awareness of natural resources and take action to help preserve and conserve them for future generations.
"Protecting and preser
ving our state's natural resources is important to the citizens of North Dakota," said the Manager of the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality's Solid Waste Program, Diana Trussell. "Earth Day gives North Dakotans a chance to embrace conservation habits that will contribute to a cleaner, safer, and healthier environment for present and future generations."
A reminder to call 811 before digging projects
Everyone can celebrate Earth Day in simple ways every single day by recycling, using public transportation or carpooling, turning off lights when leaving a room, planting trees, and using renewable resources.
The day is also a reminder of the progress being made across the state.
Supporting organizations include the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality, North Dakota Solid Waste and Recycling Association, Bis-Man Earth Day Festival, and Keep North Dakota Clean.
The Bis-Man Earth Day Festival is happening on Tuesday, April 29, from 4-7:30 p.m. at the Bismarck Event Center. You can find more information about the free event here.
