Sheriff's office investigating deputyinvolved shooting in south Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The Kern County Sheriff's Office is investigating a deputy-involved shooting on Marshall Street in south Bakersfield Tuesday morning.
Deputies were dispatched to Rite Aid on South H Street and Ming Avenue for the report of a theft in progress around 9 a.m., accordin
g to officials.
At the scene, deputies found a subject matching the description of the theft. The suspect fled and a foot pursuit started.
Officials with the Kern County Sheriff's Office said a deputy involved shooting happened in the 1700 block of Marshall Street.
Residents are asked to shelter in place and call 911 for any suspicious activity.
Officials said the crime scene is active.
