BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Tehachapi residents can once again brighten up the city’s streetlamps with their own creative decorations as the city brings back its “Adopt-A-Streetlamp” program.
In a press release, the city of Tehachapi announced the continuation of the sponsorship program,
a tradition that began in 2012 for the Tehachapi residents to “celebrate their patriotism and community pride,” according to city officials.
The program was initially launched to support the display of American flags throughout the downtown area, but has since expanded to also allow holiday decorations on the streetlamps, city officials said.

According to the release, there are 100 decorative streetlamps lined up through Tehachapi Boulevard, Green Street, F Street, Curry Street, Robinson Street and the Mill Street corridor near Highway 58.
Sponsors can choose an available location and personalize the streetlamp for $150 per year, the release said.
A custom decal will be placed on the streetlamp that each sponsorship chose. Each decal will display the name of the sponsor or honor a cause or individual that the sponsor is dedicating the streetlamp to, according to city officials.
