SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A man arrested by the FBI in Hadley last week is due in federal court on Tuesday.
Missing South Hadley woman found safe
Jacob D. Miller, 43, is being charged for illegally having six guns in his home plus large amounts of ammunition.
Miller’s home on Ho
ckanum Road in Hadley was searched by FBI agents last Tuesday morning after the bureau received a search warrant for the property. According to an affidavit filed by FBI Special Agent Dustin Farivar, investigators found a box containing 50 rounds of .45 caliber ammunition in the home. Agents received a separate search warrant to open two safes at Miller’s home, where they allegedly found the guns.
Miller was released after his arraignment, but when environmental authorities said dangerous chemicals had gone missing from his home, he was brought back into police custody. Miller appears to have removed, or had these substances removed, either after the FBI’s search of his residence or after his initial appearance in court. The court documents allege he lied to MassDEP about there being any mercury stored in his house at all.
If convicted, he could face up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
