FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — This week, the Kentucky Supreme Court will hear arguments over Lexington’s ordinance banning no-knock warrants.
Lexington’s ban was passed in 2021, following the 2020 police shooting death of Breonna Taylor in Louisville. The Fraternal Order of Police late
r filed a lawsuit challenging the ordinance, but a judge dismissed the case.
Now, the state’s supreme court will hear arguments on whether the city was required to engage in collective bargaining with Lexington police officers before enforcing the ordinance.
The hearing is scheduled for Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Supreme Court courtroom on the second floor of the Capitol.
