Marcus’ 4 a.m. Tuesday forecast
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Areas of frost will be possible Tuesday night.
Tuesday:
A cold front has passed through the state, bringing sharply cooler temperatures across the area today. Along with the cold front, there may be a few sprinkles in the northern a
nd eastern portions of our state. Otherwise, expect mostly cloudy skies and breezy conditions with cool temperatures. Wind gusts will reach around 25 to 30 mph this afternoon.
Highs will only reach the mid-50s later today, about 20°F cooler than Monday and 10°F below average for this time of year.
Tuesday night:
Skies will clear quickly as we head into the evening hours, and winds will lighten considerably overnight. The main concern will be the potential for frost across the area. While widespread frost is unlikely, some patches are possible, especially north of Interstate 70 in low-lying and rural areas.
Wednesday:
Despite chilly temperatures Wednesday morning, we should see a quick rebound by the afternoon. It will remain seasonably cool, but sunshine and lighter winds will improve conditions. High temperatures will reach the upper 50s to lower 60s.
Thursday:
Thursday will start cool, though not as cold as Wednesday morning. Expect mostly sunny conditions with milder temperatures by afternoon. Highs will reach the mid-60s, which is typical for this time of year.
Rain chances return late Thursday night into the overnight hours.
Storm chances return:
An active weather pattern is expected for Friday and into the Easter weekend. On Good Friday, temperatures will be extremely warm, with highs approaching 80°F across much of central Indiana. A cold front will move through the state late Friday afternoon into the evening, possibly overnight, bringing a chance of strong to severe thunderstorms. The main concerns are damaging straight-line winds and large hail.
Easter weekend:
Scattered showers may linger into early Saturday morning as the front moves through. By late morning and into the afternoon, the rain should clear, with sunshine returning and highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s.
Easter Sunday looks decent, with partly cloudy skies and only a slight chance of showers late in the evening or overnight. Highs will hover around 70°F.
7 day forecast:
Monday will bring another round of showers and thunderstorms across the area. Early indications suggest a possibility of strong to severe thunderstorms to start the workweek. High temperatures will remain around 70°F, which is above average for this time of year.
