North Carolina man gets 46 years for postHelene looting

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) — An Asheville man was sentenced after pleading guilty to multiple felony charges following Hurricane Helene.
33-year-old Dennis Gates Miller was arrested on October 8, 2024, for looting buildings in an area significantly impacted by flooding during Helene. Miller had loo
ted beer from the Marquee Asheville, according to the District Attorney's Office.
When officers with the Asheville Police Department confronted Miller, he attempted to escape on a stolen motorcycle. He was charged with the following:
Habitual breaking and entering
Assault on a law enforcement with physical injury
Looting
Breaking and entering
Flee to elude arrest
Miller was sentenced to serve 48 to 80 months in the N.C. Department of Corrections. ...read more read less
