Driver in collision that resulted in juvenile death charged

HONOLULU (KHON2) -- A man has been charged with Negligent Homicide following a crash that resulting in the death of his juvenile passenger this past weekend.
Natrin Auela Naki, 33, was arrested on April 12 after the Mililani crash. Authorities say Auela Naki was speeding and overtaking other vehi
cles when he lost control of the vehicle, crossed into oncoming traffic, hitting a fence and a guardrail.

The juvenile was thrown from the vehicle and died as a result of the collision. Authorities suspect alcohol was a factor in the crash.
Auela Naki faces Negligent Homicide and Driving Without a License charges, and is being held on a $75,000 bail.

According to prosecutors, Auela Naki was convicted of a felony for criminal property damage last year. If convicted on these charges, he would be classified as a repeat offender, which would make him eligible for an extended prison term. ...read more read less
