BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The Knock Knock Children’s Museum received a financial boost Monday for its ongoing efforts to promote healthy eating and agricultural education among local families.
The Baton Rouge Epicurean Society presented the museum with a check to support its “Lit
tle Garden in the Big Backyard” initiative — a hands-on program designed to teach children and their families about the importance of healthy eating, the farm-to-table process, and the value of protecting crops.
"We're surrounded by food, but we know that a lot of kids in our community are not," said Yvette Bonanno, President of the Baton Rouge Epicurean Society. "It's not only just feeding for their nourishment, but it's also feeding their soul."
The initiative also seeks to tackle larger community issues, such as childhood obesity and food insecurity, by encouraging healthier lifestyles and greater awareness of where food comes from.
You can view the garden in person by purchasing a general admission ticket!
