SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A San Diego-based warship has been deployed to the U.S.-Mexico border amid the Trump administration's crackdown on undocumented immigrants.
The U.S. Navy sent a guided-missile destroyer to the eastern Pacific Ocean to support U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) southern
border operations.

The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Stockdale (DDG 106) departed Naval Base San Diego on Friday with an embarked Coast Guard law enforcement detachment, and will be taking over duties from USS Spruance.
Stockdale just recently returned to San Diego in February 2025 after a seven-month independent deployment to the U.S. 3rd, 5th and 7th Fleet areas of operation, joining the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group (ABECSG), the Navy reports.

While in 5th Fleet, the Navy reports the USS Stockdale repelled multiple Iranian-backed Houthi attacks during transits of the Bab el-Mandeb strait and escort operations of U.S.-flagged vessels in the Gulf of Aden.
