(KRON) -- In only a few more weeks, those flying domestically within the United States will need to present a REAL ID to get past TSA and board your aircraft. The deadline of May 7 is approaching.
A couple of DMV offices in the Bay Area are accommodating that deadline. The Pleasanton and Fremont of
fices are opening an hour early to handle REAL ID appointments, the DMV said in a news release.
The Pleasanton (6300 W. Las Positas Blvd.) and Fremont (4287 Central Ave.) DMV locations are now open at 7 a.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday until June 27. The hours change went into effect on Monday, April 14.

However, those offices are only opening an hour early for REAL ID appointments, the DMV said.
Californians who would like to apply for a REAL ID can do so on DMV's website. The DMV says customers should fill out the online application first and upload the required documents -- before visiting a DMV office.
"Customers must visit a DMV office and bring their uploaded documents to complete the application," the DMV said in the news release. "By starting the process online, it should take only about 15 minutes in the office."
