City of Albuquerque to celebrate 319th birthday in Old Town on Saturday

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — The community is invited to celebrate Albuquerque's 319th birthday in Old Town on Saturday, April 19, from noon to 4 p.m. The celebration, organized by the city's Department of Arts and Culture, will have live music and food.
Streets surrounding Old Town will be clos
ed to traffic, with free parking at the Albuquerque Museum. The event will go on "rain or shine." The city says well-behaved, leashed pets are welcome.

"Albuquerque’s birthday is a time to honor the vision of those who founded our city," said Mayor Tim Keller. "As we celebrate 319 years of incredible history, growth, and accomplishment, we work toward a future shaped by innovation, culture, and community."
The festivities will kick off with music from Spanish Broom at noon, Trio Carrillo will take the stage at 12:45 p.m., then Ivon Ulibarri Cafe Mocha will perform at 2 p.m. There will be a Founder's Ceremony where participants carry banners of Albuquerque's founding families. The event will have free face painting, a rock climbing wall, and local merchants, along with a slew of local food trucks, including CCR Roasting, Lov's J's BBQ, Ace's Fry Guy, and Wok'n Roll Thai. Knights of Columbus will be making burgers in the San Felipe de Neri Church courtyard, and Old Town restaurants will offer specials. ...read more read less
