MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Finding one's purpose in life is the goal for many people and for some, it could take a lifetime.
However, one Memphis mother said she had to take a look at her past to learn the direction of her future.
"I just came back and I never left," Bianca Bowdery said. "I never left.
"
Bianca Bowdery said her only goal in life is to be happy.
Like many people, she said she spent her early adult years finding a career that provided stability and satisfaction.
"I just wanted to be happy. I was like, 'Where was I happiest?' And that's how I ended up back here," Bowdery said.

Little did she know that she'd be working for the very organization that molded her into the woman she is today.
"It changed my life, literally," Bowdery said. "I stayed out of so much. Trouble is easy to get into around these parts.
Bowdery is now the Club Director of the Promise Academy Spring Hill Boys and Girls Club in Raleigh.
She said even her own kids are members of the club.
She said her journey with the organization started when she was 12.
"And I seen the kids going across and I was like 'Ma, they look like they're having fun over there," Bowdery said. "So, she walked me in, signed me up, and from that day forward, it was history."
From there, the Boys and Girls Club became a staple in her life.
She was even named Youth of the Year shortly after joining.

Bowdery said the organization taught her the life skills she needed to succeed.
Now, she's passing those same skills to the kids in her club.
"Anytime I had a problem, I could go to any adult in the building, and they would make it their problem right off the bat," Bowdery said. "So, I just carried that with me. Anytime a child has a problem, it's my problem right off the bat. I want to help them solve it. I want to give them the tools they need to solve it on their own as well."
Whether it's building through character or providing a safe environment for kids to thrive in, Bowdery said the Boys and Girls Club is committed to saving lives in the same way she said they saved hers.
"People here, we do the work. We're in the communities. We're trying to save and change lives. We're trying to be a support to families," Bowdery said. "If you're looking for somewhere where your kids can be safe and have fun and learn and grow, Boys and Girls Club is it."
