Man in Montgomery County arrested in connection with Washington state murder case

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A man currently in custody in Montgomery County, Kentucky, is now facing a murder charge in connection with a Washington state homicide, according to a release from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators say 31-year-old Dariel Nunez Mont
ero was arrested on a murder warrant while already in custody in Kentucky on unrelated charges.
The Vancouver, Washington Police Department Major Crimes Unit (MCU) has been investigating the November 2024 homicide of Courtney Clinton, according to a post on their social media. Detectives say new leads in the case prompted them to travel to Kentucky, where they discovered that Nunez Montero was being held in the Montgomery County Detention Center.
The post states that based on the evidence and in coordination with the Clark County, Washington Prosecutor’s Office, a felony warrant was issued on April 11 by the Clark County Superior Court in Washington state, charging Nunez Montero with Murder in the First Degree.
He will remain in custody in Kentucky while awaiting extradition to Clark County, Washington, where he will face prosecution for the killing of Courtney Clinton.
