Senate Bill 1 decision looms over Northwest Allen County Schools

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - As Senate Bill 1 continues to be discussed at the statehouse, Northwest Allen County Schools (NACS) continue to wait and see what will be signed into law.
WANE 15 spoke with NACS Superintendent, Wayne Barker, about how this new version of the bill could affect NACS.
"We are very concerned about what we are seeing," said Barker. "This issue for us is we are more of a residential based tax base then any other school district probably almost in the state. Any property reform has the potential to really impact us more negatively then it does other school districts."

Superintendent Barker adds that the district supports property tax reform but knows how it could hurt NACS.
"I am thankful for our local legislators who have been working with us," Barker said. "I think our local legislators understand the issues that we have here at Northwest Allen County Schools and they are working with us."
