(CNN)– Meta’s federal antitrust trial started on Monday, April 14, in Washington D.C. The FTC is accusing Meta of illegally building a social networking monopoly through its acquisitions of Instagram and Whatsapp. The FTC initially filed the lawsuit in December 2020, but it was thrown out six months later. However, the agency was allowed to amend and refile its case months after it was dismissed. There will not be a jury which means the judge will be issuing the final ruling.
